The No. 3 unit of Guowang Xinyuan Jiangsu Jurong Pumped Storage Power Station was officially connected to the grid for power generation on the 10th. With the operation of Units 1 and 2, the first three units of the power station have all started, with a total generating capacity of 675000 kilowatts, adding an important clean energy regulation facility to the Yangtze River Delta region.
The upper reservoir dam of the power station is 182.3 meters high, making it the tallest pumped storage power station in the world, with functions such as peak shaving and frequency regulation. During periods of low electricity demand, the power station pumps water from the lower reservoir to the upper reservoir, converting it into potential energy storage; During peak electricity demand, the potential energy is converted into electrical energy and input into the power grid, achieving the goal of "water flowing upwards and electricity being sent from the air", known as the "giant power bank" of the power grid.

The Jurong Pumped Storage Power Station started construction in March 2017 and is equipped with six 225000 kW reversible hydro generator units, with a total installed capacity of 1.35 million kW. According to Wang Chenhui, Director of the Development Department of State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company, it is expected that all units will be fully operational by the end of this year, with an annual pumping capacity of 1.8 billion kilowatt hours and an annual power generation capacity of 1.35 billion kilowatt hours, enough to meet the annual electricity needs of about 360000 households. At that time, the power station will save 140000 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 349000 tons annually.
